The Right Ambition: A Guide to Navigating Opportunities

It is the year when opportunities are abundant and the doors to success are open. But with these opportunities comes a warning from the Lord: be careful of the doors you choose to enter. Just because a door is open, does not mean it is the right door for you at this time in your life.

We have the power, however, to exercise mastery over our ambitions by trusting in God's preference for us. Only God knows what truly lies behind each door and He has our best interests at heart. In the Bible, the story of the separation of Lot from Abraham teaches us valuable lessons about ambition and the power of our vision.

In Genesis 13:8-15, Lot lifted up his eyes and chose for himself, but Abraham made no expression until God told him to look and choose. This shows us the influence of our vision on our ambition and the importance of waiting for God to inspire our looking. If God gives the vision, He will also sponsor the ambition to fulfill it.

The fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore can only be found in the path God shows us. In Psalms 16:11, it says, "You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

I pray for you today that God shows you the path of life in your marriage, career, business, academics, and all areas of your life and you follow them in the name of Jesus.

It is also important to remember that there is an appropriate time to look at certain opportunities. Just because a place looks good, does not mean it is permanently safe. The Bible shows in Genesis 13:10 that the place Lot chose looked like the garden of the Lord but it was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Are there good-looking places you are already looking at but they are destined for destruction? Pray for yourself and your children today, that God shows them the path of life and protects them from the way that seems right but leads to destruction in Jesus' name.

In conclusion, exercise mastery over your ambitions by relying on God's preference for you and wait for His inspiration to look. The path to fullness of joy and everlasting pleasures can only be found in the path God shows us. The Lord bless you as you wait in Jesus' name.
