The Importance of Surpassing Wisdom

Wisdom is an essential aspect of life, and the Bible emphasizes the importance of having wisdom that surpasses others. In 1Kings 4:29-34, God gave Solomon wisdom that excelled over the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. Because of this surpassing wisdom, men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.

In 1 Samuel 18:30, David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, and his name became highly esteemed. The Bible makes reference to the wisdom of these men relative to other people’s wisdom and points out that their wisdom excelled others. It is crucial to have wisdom that surpasses others, but why?

Luke 16:8 says, "And the lord commended the unjust steward because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light." The Bible records that the children of this world are also wise, which is why you and I must pay attention to the excellence of our wisdom. We are grateful for what we know and are able to do, but does our wisdom surpass that of the children of this world?

In Daniel 1:20, Daniel and his friends were found ten times better in all matters of wisdom and understanding than all the magicians and astrologers in the king's realm. This shows the importance of surpassing wisdom, and it is essential to project our wisdom beyond that of a certain class of people.

In 1 Kings 10:1-7, the queen of Sheba came to test Solomon's wisdom with hard questions. When she saw all the wisdom of Solomon, there was no more spirit in her. The ESV states that "there was no more breath in her". His wisdom confounded and rendered royalty speechless, making powerful people breathless. I pray for you today, that you receive the wisdom that exceeds, surpasses, and goes above and beyond in the name of Jesus.

In John 8:4-10 a stone-wielding and angry mob came to test Jesus in order to have a basis for accusing him. But he displayed surpassing wisdom. The Bible records that "being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last".

Are there tests set up and packaged for you today? May you display surpassing wisdom in the name of Jesus.

In conclusion, surpassing wisdom is crucial for our personal growth and development. It sets us apart from others and draws people to us. We ought to display wisdom that excels and surpasses that of the children of this world in all things. I pray for you today that you display wisdom that confounds and renders people speechless, making you stand out as individuals in Jesus' name.
