The Importance of Building Capacity as a Believer

As believers, we are grateful for the guidance that God provides us as we progress day by day. Yesterday, we explored the prime motivation for a believer to continuously build their capacity, and we discovered that it is the timelessness of God's word. If God says that you are rich, no matter your current financial situation, what God has said will still come to pass. Thus, it is crucial to start building capacity for the riches that God has declared.

Today, we will briefly examine the risks of not building capacity as seen in the scriptures.

1. The Contagion of Cowardice

Deuteronomy 20:8 (NKJV) states, "The officers shall speak further to the people, and say, What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest the heart of his brethren faint like his heart.’ 9 And so it shall be, when the officers have finished speaking to the people, that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people."

The issue with not building capacity is that you don't know how your lack of conviction and stagnation will affect others. There are homes where their current situation is not due to external troubles but rather because the head of the household is not building capacity. Cowardice is contagious, and this is a significant risk of not building capacity.

2. The Risk of Rejection

It is crucial to note that there is a risk of being rejected, not just by authorities but also by those who you thought had similar interests. If authorities reject you, it's clear that there is a power imbalance in their favour. But what about those who you thought were your comrades, fighting for the same cause with the same drive and who you thought had your best interests at heart?

Matthew 25:7-10 (NKJV) tells the parable of the ten virgins, where the foolish virgins asked the wise virgins for some of their oil, and the wise virgins replied, "No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves." This parable highlights that a relationship lasts not just because of similar interests but also because of capacity balance. Nobody wants to see others smile while they are crying.

3. No Better Time Than Now

Jesus himself said, "Sufficient for the day is its own trouble," (Matthew 6:34, NKJV). Your refusal to build capacity today is equivalent to adding yesterday's troubles to today's, leading to exhaustion. We must redeem the time, as it says in Ephesians 5:15-16 (NKJV), "See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

4. You do not know how fierce tomorrow's battles can be

Jeremiah 12:5 (NKJV) warns, "If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, in which you trusted, they wearied you, then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?"

Fortify yourself!

The devil will try to keep capacity building sources far from you so that you will not think about it. However, we must remember what Job 29:19-20 (NKJV) says, "My root is spread out to the waters, and the dew lies all night on my branch... My glory is fresh within me, and my bow is renewed in my hand."

Job was describing how he became affluent initially, and this should be a lesson for us. His roots were always touching the waters.

Pray for yourself today. That you will see no hinderance in capacity building in the name of Jesus. Pray for yourself that no matter what the associated cost of building capacity is, you will see no hinderance in the name of Jesus.

The same Job 29:19-20 (NKJV) proves that you will not build capacity for nothing. Verse 20 says "My glory is fresh within me,". The New living Translation says "New honours are constantly bestowed on me". Brethren as your roots spread out to reach the waters, new honours are constantly bestowed upon you in the name of Jesus.

Pray, that as you build capacity, your efforts are acknowledged and it results in honour for you in the name of Jesus.

Finally. The same verse 20 says... "And my bow is renewed in my hand". What is the essence of the bow renewal? This is to ensure precision in all my ambition and targets. I pray for you today, that as your roots spread out to reach the waters, new honours are constantly conferred on you and you enjoy precision in all things.

In conclusion, all doors are open unto you. You are now qualified. But your capacity will determine how much of the blessings coming your way you will retain. Build capacity today and smile tomorrow.

God bless you.
