I have a well-instructed tongue.

Have you ever felt like you missed opportunities because you didn't say the right things or you said the right things in the wrong way? This is a popular feeling, but the good news is that there is a solution - the tongue of the learned. The NIV calls it a well-instructed tongue.

In Isaiah 50:4-5, the Lord speaks of the tongue of the learned, referring to a tongue that is beyond human learning and operates in a divinely taught mode of expression and eloquence. This is actually Isaiah speaking prophetically about Jesus, but the Lord says that these words are for you as well.

Isaiah 50:4-5 describes 4 important qualities of the tongue of a well-instructed tongue.

First, the tongue of the learned offers a constant supply of words. The scripture says in Isa 50:4 "He awakens Me morning by morning". This is true as Psalms 81:10 says, "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it." This means that wherever you are, you will enjoy an abundant supply of usable and useful words by the Holy Spirit.

-Go ahead and declare concerning yourself today that you have words always in Jesus name.

Secondly, the tongue of the learned also assures that we will be always prepared for what the Lord wants to tell us. Isaiah 30:20-21 says, "And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left."

The role of teachers in this passage is important. Take note that the scripture says "your eyes shall see your teachers" before it says "Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,”. Many times, God gives certain indicators to us before speaking to us so that when His word comes, we can know which direction to go with what we received. With the tongue of the learned, you recognize your indicators and appropriately direct the instructions you hear from God.

-Pray for yourself this morning, that you recognize your indicators and follow the Lord's leading in Jesus' name.

Thirdly, the tongue of the learned also provides the ability to receive the word as someone that is learned. Apostle Paul said concerning the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 3:1 "And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ". To hear as the learned refers to your ability to be in the same spiritual and contextual space the Lord is either speaking from or is speaking about. When you hear as the learned you will not only understand what the Lord is talking about, you will understand the context in which the Lord is speaking.

- Pray for yourself today, that you hear the lord as the learned in the name of Jesus. Pray that whenever the Lord is speaking to you, you will not hear as a babe or as carnal but as a learned in Jesus' name.

The fourth characteristic of the tongue of the learned is susceptibility to the word of God.

To be easily persuaded by the word and through the word. To be persuadable through the word is for something told you from the scripture to be capable of changing your mind. To be persuadable by the word is to have reached a stage in your life where you said, "God's word said it, I believe it and that settles it." This is what the scripture refers to as the "wisdom of the just" in Luke 1:17 or the "attitude of the righteous" in Luke 1:17AMPC. Susceptibility to the word of God.

-Pray for yourself today, that in all things, and at all times, you are susceptible to the word of God in Jesus' name.

Finally, what will your words look like after taking advantage of these 4 offers from the Lord?

Proverbs 25:11 (NKJV) A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver.

The Living Bible translation calls it "gold apples in a silver basket."

-Pray for yourself today that as you proceed this year, your words are fitly spoken both in time and in context in the name of Jesus. declare that your words ate like apples of gold in a basket of silver in the name of Jesus. Clarity characterizes your words in the name of Jesus. Declare that your words are sought after and desired by all men in the name of Jesus.

You may have missed opportunities in time past because of wrong words or wrongly spoken right words. Today marks the end of such in your life in Jesus' name now that you have a well-instructed tongue.
