Embracing Change and Exercising Mastery over Transition Windows

Yesterday, we discussed the importance of having the courage to embrace change and we are grateful for the lives that have been touched by this message. Today, the Lord wants us to understand the fleeting nature of transition windows, the moments between seasons. These windows of opportunity to lock down a new season can pass quickly, and it is important that we pay attention and are ready to seize them.

Unfortunately, there are people who miss out on these transition windows due to a variety of reasons -

-the transition windows may have opened too fast and short-lived,

-they weren't paying attention, or

-they were completely ignorant.

As believers, it is important that we recognize when God says it is enough. It could be in things that involve us, when a season of our lives is ending, when it is time to make way for the new, or even when we have overstayed in a particular season.

Jesus reminds us in Luke 8:10 (KJV), "Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand." Brethren, it is given to us to know and understand these things.

So, what makes people hold onto the old seasons of their lives? It is the continued perception of value in what has passed or is passing. The Bible however instructs us in Leviticus 26:10 (NKJV), "You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new." This passage does not say that the old season must spoil or have issues before moving on, but simply that the arrival of the new is enough reason to let go of the old.

Most times, our attachment to old seasons blinds us to the new season that God has in store for us. Today, I pray for you that no matter how fleeting any of your transition windows may be, you will be able to detect it and respond appropriately in Jesus' name. The key to mastering your transition windows is detection and response. The Bible makes reference to the sons of Issachar in 1Chronicles 12:32 (NKJV). They had an understanding of the times and were able to know what to do. In the same way, you can also have an understanding of your time and know what to do.

How then do we know when a new season in our lives has arrived? The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:14 (NKJV) that lights are for signs and seasons. Light, therefore, is the indicator of the arrival of a new season. Light brings change and can alter the course of our lives. Light reveals, light leads, light guides, and light gives insight. The Bible describes light in Ephesians 5:13 as anything that has the power to illuminate (NIV). Wherever you are in your life today, I pray that the light of God illuminates your life in Jesus' name.

Isaiah 9:2 (NKJV) says "The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined". I pray for you today in the name of Jesus that you see the great light you have been waiting for in the name of Jesus. How then does the light come? Psalms 119:130 (NKJV) says "The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple". The word of God is the true source of light! I pray for you today that you are suitably positioned for the entrance of God's word to produce light in your life in Jesus' name.

What then is the appropriate response to the reception of light? There is only one valid response to the arrival and reception of light. Isaiah 60:1 (NKJV) "Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you". The only valid response to the arrival and reception of light is to arise. Micah 7:8 (NKJV) also says "Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The LORD will be a light to me". Ephesians 5:14 (NKJV) further says "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light." The only valid response to the reception of light is to arise.

Pray for yourself today:

  • That you arise at the reception of light all the time in the name of Jesus.

  • Speak into your future, that no matter where you are or what you are doing, you arise at the entrance of light into your life in the name of Jesus.

  • Declare that there is no time wasting in your life.

  • Declare that you do not hold on to old seasons in the name of Jesus.

In conclusion, exercising mastery over transition windows requires the detection of the new season which arrives through light and by arising to the occasion of whatever the light brings. Bear in mind that there are destinies whose fulfillment is dependent on your own arising. The Lord bless you real good.
